The Sindh government has taken a major step toward modernizing the province’s examination system by planning to introduce e-marking and digital technologies across all educational boards. The initiative is aimed at improving transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the assessment process while reducing delays in result preparation.

The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting between Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards Muhammad Ismail Rahoo and representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Officials reviewed plans to replace the traditional manual paper-checking system with a secure digital marking system that aligns with international examination standards.
Under the proposed project, educational boards will receive high-speed scanners, secure servers, digital storage systems, and paper-processing equipment. In addition, IT specialists will provide comprehensive training to board employees, enabling them to manage digital evaluation and result processing efficiently.
According to Minister Muhammad Ismail Rahoo, the project is designed to ensure fair marking, minimize human errors, improve data security, and help boards announce results on time. He said the proposal will soon be presented before the Sindh Cabinet for final approval.
To oversee the implementation, Karachi Intermediate Board Chairman Faqir Muhammad Lakho has been appointed as the project focal person. He will coordinate with education boards and technical teams to ensure the smooth rollout of the new system.
Education experts believe that e-marking will significantly improve the credibility of board examinations by ensuring uniform evaluation standards, faster result compilation, and greater transparency. The move also supports Pakistan’s broader efforts to digitize public services and strengthen the quality of the education sector.

Once implemented, the new digital examination system is expected to benefit thousands of students across Sindh by making the assessment process more reliable, secure, and efficient while reducing administrative workload for educational boards.
