The Sindh College Education Department has officially announced a public holiday for all public and private colleges across the province on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, on the occasion of Chehlum of Imam Hussain (R.A.). The decision applies to every college working under the administrative control of the department.
According to an official notification, the holiday was approved by the Steering Committee on Education during its earlier meeting. The department has directed all concerned authorities to ensure that the notification is implemented across Sindh without exception.
The closure will be observed by government colleges, private colleges, degree colleges, and other institutions managed by the College Education Department, Government of Sindh. Students and teaching staff have been advised to follow official instructions issued by their respective institutions.

The Director General Colleges Sindh, along with Regional Directors and other education officials, has been instructed to circulate the notification to all colleges and oversee its implementation. Educational institutions are expected to comply with the government’s directives regarding the holiday.
It is important to note that this announcement is only for colleges operating under the Sindh College Education Department. Universities and schools may follow separate schedules depending on notifications issued by their respective authorities.
Students are advised to stay connected with their college administration and official government channels for any further updates regarding academic activities, examinations, or changes to the college calendar. If additional instructions are issued by the Sindh Government, colleges will notify students accordingly.
