The Punjab School Education Department has announced a major relief for thousands of teachers by confirming that those participating in the English Language Proficiency Course during the summer holidays will receive their full conveyance allowance. The decision benefits around 35,000 teachers across the province.
Under the latest instructions, no deduction will be made from the conveyance allowance of teachers attending the official training programme. The department has clarified that all eligible participants will continue to receive the allowance in full, despite the training taking place during the summer vacation period.
To ensure smooth payments, the School Education Department has directed all District Education Authorities (DEAs) to prepare complete lists of participating teachers and submit them to the Finance Department without delay. Officials have been instructed to complete the process as quickly as possible so that teachers receive their payments on time.
The move is aimed at encouraging teachers to actively participate in professional development programmes without worrying about financial losses. The English Language Proficiency Course is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to improve English teaching standards and enhance classroom learning outcomes in public schools.
Normally, teachers do not receive their conveyance allowance during the summer holidays because educational institutions remain closed. However, the government has made a special exception for teachers attending this official training programme, recognizing that they are required to travel and remain engaged in professional learning activities.
