The District Education Authority (DEA) Lahore has launched a strict enforcement drive, directing all private schools to submit complete records of students admitted under the 10% free education quota. Schools have been given three days to provide the required information or face legal action.
Under the Punjab Free and Compulsory Education Rules 2024, every registered private school is legally required to reserve at least 10% of seats in every class for children from low-income and disadvantaged families without charging any tuition or admission fees.
The education authority has instructed schools to submit both hard and soft copies of the admission records. Institutions must also provide class-wise enrollment details along with supporting documents proving that the quota has been implemented according to the law.
Officials warned that schools failing to submit records or refusing to comply with the policy could face administrative and legal proceedings. Possible penalties include financial fines, suspension of school registration, and other actions under the Punjab education laws.

The move is part of the Punjab government’s broader effort to ensure equal access to quality education for underprivileged children. Authorities said regular inspections and record verification will continue to ensure private schools are fulfilling their legal responsibilities.
Parents who believe their children have been denied admission under the 10% free education quota can also approach the District Education Authority to file complaints. Officials have assured that verified complaints will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken against schools found violating the rules.
The government believes strict implementation of the free education quota will help more deserving children receive quality education while promoting transparency and accountability across the private education sector.
