The Punjab government has introduced a new policy to improve the paper checking and invigilation system for examinations across schools and colleges. The initiative aims to increase the number of trained staff available for examination duties and ensure a smoother assessment process.
Under the revised policy, School Teacher Interns (STIs), temporary teachers, and other qualified graduates will now be eligible to perform paper checking and exam invigilation after completing mandatory training. The new system is expected to be implemented from the next examination cycle.

According to Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, the policy is designed to strengthen the examination process by preparing a larger pool of trained educators. Officials believe that trained temporary staff can help reduce the workload on permanent teachers while maintaining transparency and efficiency during examinations.
The government has also confirmed that all selected candidates will receive proper orientation before being assigned responsibilities. The training will focus on fair paper evaluation, examination rules, marking standards, confidentiality, and invigilation procedures to ensure uniformity across educational institutions.
The decision follows the provincial government’s earlier move to restrict private teachers from participating in official examination duties. By relying on trained interns and qualified graduates, the education department aims to establish a more accountable and standardized examination system.
Education experts have welcomed the reforms, saying they could improve the speed and quality of paper assessment while creating practical opportunities for young graduates interested in the education sector. The expanded workforce is also expected to help education boards manage the increasing number of candidates appearing in annual examinations.
Officials say the revised policy will benefit future board examinations, including preparations related to 11th class results 2026, by ensuring answer scripts are evaluated by trained personnel following standardized guidelines.
