The Punjab government has officially rolled out Phase 2 of the Chief Minister’s Free Laptop Scheme, further expanding one of the province’s flagship education initiatives to improve digital access for students. Distribution under the new phase has already started in Lahore and several other districts, with authorities confirming that thousands of laptops are being handed over under a structured schedule.
Officials said that around 60,000 students will receive laptops during Phase 2. At the same time, Phase 1 distribution is ongoing, as the government continues efforts to meet its earlier commitment to provide laptops to 100,000 students in the first phase. By running both phases simultaneously, authorities hope to accelerate the overall delivery process.

The combined target of the program now stands at 160,000 laptops for students across Punjab. The scheme primarily focuses on promoting digital learning, supporting research activities, and providing students with modern tools needed for academic success in today’s technology-driven world.
Students who have not yet applied can still submit their applications through the Higher Education Department (HED) online portal, which remains active. Officials have advised applicants to ensure their information is accurate to avoid delays.
The Punjab government views the laptop scheme as a key step toward bridging the digital divide and strengthening the province’s higher education system. Authorities say the initiative is part of a broader education reform strategy designed to encourage innovation, improve academic performance, and prepare young people for future challenges.
Priority is being given to eligible and deserving students according to the announced criteria, and distribution is being carried out in line with a pre-approved timeline.
