Pakistan’s higher education sector has achieved another important milestone as 18 universities from across the country have been included in the latest QS World University Rankings. The achievement reflects the growing international recognition of Pakistani institutions for their academic standards, research output, and graduate employability.
Among all Pakistani universities, Quaid-i-Azam University (QAU) emerged as the highest-ranked institution, securing the 381st position globally. The university was followed closely by the National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), which ranked 384th worldwide, highlighting the strong performance of Pakistan’s leading public universities.

Another notable performer was the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences (PIEAS), which secured a place among the world’s top universities. Other institutions that earned positions in the rankings include University of the Punjab, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), COMSATS University Islamabad, University of Agriculture Faisalabad, and Government College University Faisalabad.

At the international level, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) retained its position as the world’s leading university, followed by several renowned institutions from the United States, United Kingdom, and other major education hubs.
