A claim spreading rapidly on social media says Punjab schools will close for 10 days in early February because of Basant. The message suggests holidays from February 1 to February 10, 2026, causing confusion among parents and students.
The viral notice is being shared as an official order of the Punjab School Education Department. It falsely claims that both public and private schools will remain closed during this period.
The message also mentions unusual instructions, including permission to lease or auction school rooftops for kite flying. It further directs education officials and school heads to enforce the alleged orders.

However, no such notification has been issued by the Punjab government. Schools across the province are operating according to their regular academic schedule.
The Punjab Education Department has not announced any Basant-related holidays. Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has also made no statement confirming school closures.
Authorities have termed the notice fake and misleading, advising parents to trust only official government sources.
