The Punjab government has issued an official notification confirming three public holidays on February 5, 6, and 7, giving citizens an extended break in connection with Kashmir Solidarity Day and Basant festivities.
According to the notification, all provincial government offices, schools, and institutions will remain closed on these dates. The federal government had already declared February 5 a nationwide holiday to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day, while Punjab has added February 6 (Friday) and February 7 (Saturday) as additional provincial holidays.
With Sunday following these dates, residents across the province will enjoy a four-day long weekend, offering an opportunity for rest, family time, and recreational activities.

The Federal Cabinet Division has also directed that a one-minute silence at 10:00 am on February 5 be observed in memory of Kashmiri martyrs.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz had hinted at Basant-related holidays through her social media, encouraging people to celebrate responsibly. Meanwhile, the Lahore administration has intensified preparations for Basant, instructing assistant commissioners and relevant departments to remain in the field. Leaves of key officers have been suspended, and strict safety measures for kite flying are being enforced, including the installation of safety rods and continued public awareness campaigns to ensure a secure and festive environment.
